Deposit Limit

A deposit limit is a responsible gambling setting that caps the total funds or cryptocurrency value an account holder can add to a wagering balance across a specified period. Common intervals include rolling daily, weekly, or monthly windows. Once cumulative inbound transactions reach this threshold, the operator's payment gateway automatically declines further deposits until the designated timeframe resets.

How Deposit Limits Work and Reset

When an account holder configures a deposit limit, the restriction typically takes effect immediately. Decreasing a limit to enforce tighter budget control also applies instantly across most regulated platforms. Conversely, requesting an increase or removing a limit requires a mandatory cooling-off period, commonly lasting between 24 hours and seven days. This cooling-off delay prevents impulsive adjustments during active sessions, requiring users to confirm the change after the designated waiting time expires.

  • Rolling versus calendar resets: Rolling limits evaluate the previous 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days continuously from the timestamp of each transaction, whereas calendar limits reset at a fixed hour, such as midnight UTC.
  • Multi-currency and cryptocurrency tracking: On platforms supporting multiple assets or cryptocurrencies, limits evaluate against a base fiat currency equivalent or native token units calculated at the time of deposit.
  • Payment channel scope: Restrictions apply to the account balance rather than specific funding routes, blocking all integrated payment methods once the cap is met.

Deposit Limits Compared to Loss Limits

A deposit limit restricts incoming cash flow regardless of wagering outcomes or existing account balances. Even if an account holder withdraws funds or maintains substantial playable capital, no new deposits are accepted once the limit is exhausted. In contrast, a loss limit restricts the net amount a player can lose from their starting balance and active winnings over a set period, directly monitoring bet outcomes rather than inbound payment volume.
